Hypertension is one of the most important modifiable risk factors for stroke, heart disease, kidney disease, and premature death worldwide. Effective blood pressure control and early preventive strategies are essential to reducing the growing burden of cardiovascular disease, particularly in Sri Lanka where hypertension and stroke continue to contribute significantly to morbidity and mortality. Strengthening awareness, promoting evidence-based treatment, and encouraging clinical research are important steps toward improving patient outcomes and public health.
The landmark GMRx2 and TRIDENT trials have added valuable global evidence on hypertension management and stroke prevention, with Sri Lankan clinicians and researchers contributing meaningfully to this important work. The findings from these studies provide key insights into improving blood pressure control, reducing cardiovascular risk, and guiding future treatment strategies and healthcare policies.
In commemoration of World Hypertension Day and International Clinical Trials Day, we are pleased to host a scientific meeting at Jaffna Teaching Hospital to disseminate the findings of the GMRx2 and TRIDENT trials. The session aims to bring together healthcare professionals, researchers, and academics to promote evidence-based care, encourage research collaboration, and strengthen efforts toward better stroke prevention and cardiovascular health outcomes in Sri Lanka.
This event is co-hosted by the Jaffna Medical Association, University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka, and RemediumOne.
