COBRA HS Investigators’ Visit in Sri Lanka

RemediumOne was pleased to host the COBRA HS Investigators’ Visit in Sri Lanka from 23rd to 25th February, bringing together international and local collaborators working on this important study.

The COBRA Holistic Senior (COBRA HS) study aims to evaluate a community-based intervention to improve the physical and mental well-being of older adults living with chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and common mental health problems.

The visit was attended by Prof. Helen Lambert and Prof. Katrina Turner from the University of Bristol, and Prof. Tazeen Jafar and the team from Duke-NUS Medical School, Singapore.

During the visit, the team held discussions with the local research team and met with national and regional level policymakers to discuss the study implementation and obtain their insights. The program also included a field visit to elder communities in Colombo and Vavuniya districts, as well as a training session on qualitative research methods for research staff, strengthening local research capacity.

The local team is led by Prof. Asita de Silva and Prof. Shehan Williams from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya, together with Prof. Shamini Prathapan from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, providing strong academic leadership to the study in Sri Lanka.

The visit highlighted the value of international collaboration, community engagement, and capacity building in advancing research that aims to improve healthy ageing and chronic disease management in South Asia.

RemediumOne is proud to support the implementation of this important study and to work alongside leading global partners to strengthen community-based health research in Sri Lanka.
