Sri Lanka has an established national registry, the Sri Lanka Clinical Trials Registry (SLCTR), which serves as the official platform for registering and tracking clinical research conducted in the country.
The SLCTR organized a webinar among national research stakeholders on āMinimizing Barriers for Interventional Research: Expert Opinion from a Global Context,ā with a focus on building a more efficient clinical trial framework in Sri Lanka.
The session was moderated by Prof. Nithushi Samaranayake and the key presentations include:
⢠Dr. Vasee Moorthy MD PhD (Head of Global Clinical Trials, WHO) outlined key steps countries can take to strengthen clinical research ecosystems ranging from improving patient access to research, to supporting investigators, and integrating research into routine healthcare.
⢠Dr. Manju Rani (Regional Advisor – Research & Innovation, WHO SEARO) shared practical experience from Nepal in developing an integrated digital research application system, streamlining trial registration and ethics committee submissions through a single platform.
Stakeholders actively contributed to feedback, reflecting strong alignment with WHOās vision.
We extend our sincere thanks to Prof. Udaya Ranawaka and the SLCTR for facilitating this important and timely dialogue.
