We recently organised an engagement programme on hypertension management for individuals diagnosed with high blood pressure. During the session, we asked participants if they knew their current blood pressure levels, and surprisingly, many did not know their numbers or understand what their blood pressure readings meant.
This highlighted the importance of continued patient engagement and education, not only to improve awareness of hypertension and its health implications but also to inform patients to actively manage their condition.
A key objective of the programme was also to create awareness about emerging therapies and advances in hypertension treatment worldwide including the low-dose triple-pill and Sri Lankaās contribution to generating evidence through global clinical research.
The programme was organised by the Clinical Trials Unit, University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka. We extend our sincere appreciation to the Director, CTU, University of Kelaniya, Prof. Asita de Silva for his leadership and support, and to Dr. Gamini Galappatthy and Dr. Ravindu Sudeep for sharing their expertise and knowledge with the patients.
Turning research into knowledge that empowers the patients who made it possible.
To every participant, THANK YOU!
